We chose this picture for the thumbnail of the entire Libya website.

It shows our Tuareg cook, Abu Bakr with whom we spent over a week in the Sahara. He is one of the most gentle, considerate, and caring people we have encountered on our travels. He didnít speak English, but that didnít seem to affect a deeper communication.

Weíre grateful we met him.

We flew into Tripoli which was our base for the four weeks in Libya. From there, we toured Sabratha, Leptis Magna, and the Berber villages. We flew to Sebha and drove into the Sahara regions and all the way back to Tripoli.

We then flew to Benghazi and toured Cyrenaica. We kept track of our daily driving distances below. The roads in Libya were excellent. We drove a total of 3330 Miles and took three domestic flights (500 miles each).
